Board Meeting Minutes
February 6, 2002

CALL TO ORDER/FLAG SALUTE/INTRODUCTIONS

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Mary Mattison, Board Chair.

Board members in attendance were Mary Mattison, Judy Boxx, Charlie Crabtree, Sheri Folsom and Rob Olson.

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

ACCOUNTS PAYABLE

The accounts payable register for the district was approved on a motion by Sheri Folsom that was seconded by Judy Boxx.

EDUCATION TOPIC - High School Culminating Project

High School Principal Bill Giller introduced the topic and provided general background information about the high school culminating project. Elaine Kheraity and Marjery Rogers presented information regarding student portfolios and pathways. Randy Anderson and Patrick Ames presented an overivew of the culminating project at each grade level within the high school. Cheryl Read shared information regarding the projects as well. Discussion followed with questions from members of the School Board. Additional work is to be done to inform parents and gather input. In addition, further discussion and recommendations at the School Board level will help shape this program.

Mr. Giller reviewed the process for providing senior students off-campus privileges during the second semester based on responsible behavior. There was concensus on the Board to continue approval for this initiative.

Board members briefly discussed the school levy. Audience members participated in the discussion of the levy results.

EXECUTIVE SESSION - Review personnel performance

The Board went into executive session at 8:45 p.m. to discuss personnel performance. The executive session ended at 9:20 p.m. when the Board went back into regular session.

ADJOURNMENT

The meeting was adjourned at 9:20 p.m. by Chair Mary Mattison.
