Meridian Family Resource Center
The Meridian School District "Readiness to Learn" program is a grant-driven program designed to help children and their families access the services they need to ensure that all Meridian students are:
Who We Are Each school district has the "Readiness to Learn" programs, but each district runs its program in a way uniquely designed to suit the size and nature of the community. Meridian's Family Resource Center offers a variety of services. Such as, providing information to families on medical help, counseling, housing information, energy assistance, resources for children with special needs and so on. Some of the programs that Meridian's Family Resource Center is developing are: S.T.A.R. Program Star stands for "Students Taking Academic Responsibility." This is an after school pilot program between Meridian Middle School and Whatcom County Parks and Recreation Department, which consists of academic and recreational activities. The program started March 1 and goes through June 15. It is held at Meridian Middle School on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:20-4:00pm. During this time students can get help on their homework from tutors. When a student has clocked in 15 hours of studying, he or she is eligible to attend recreational activities, such as canoeing, rock climbing, hiking, and swimming. This program also offers free transportation for students to get home after the program. Laurel Community Baptist Church Share Room Just east of the Meridian District office is Laurel Community Baptist Church. The church offers used clothing and small household appliances. The hours of the share room are open from 10-4 Monday through Friday. Questions?
